  • LORNE

LORNE. Where Ocean Meets The Otways 🌿

Cradled along Victoria’s legendary Great Ocean Road, Lorne is a coastal treasure where the rhythm of the sea meets the hush of the forest. It’s a place of gentle discovery, where every path leads to beauty and every breeze carries the scent of salt and eucalyptus.

Beside the curve of Louttit Bay, the town opens to sweeping ocean vistas and a patrolled surf beach perfect for sunseekers and swimmers alike. The foreshore invites picnics, play, and slow afternoon strolls beneath Norfolk pines.

Mountjoy Parade, Lorne’s lively heart, pulses with charm—boutique shops, artful galleries, and welcoming cafés line the street. Whether you’re sipping a latte, browsing local crafts, or enjoying fish and chips with sand between your toes, the waves are never far from view.

  • Erskine Waterfalls

ERSKINE FALLS graceful in every season, the 30-metre falls tumble into the pool below—a shimmering veil against ancient stone.

A gentle walk leads to the first lookout, where sweeping views unveil the cascade in full.

For those drawn deeper into the landscape, a steep descent winds through forest steps to a second vantage—a lush fern gully, cool and quiet, where nature whispers its reward.

  • Qdos Sculpture Park & Gallery

Qdos Sculpture Park & Gallery – Lorne’s Hidden Forest of Form

Tucked into the lush hinterland of Lorne, Qdos Sculpture Park is a living gallery where art and nature converse in whispers and bold declarations. Meandering paths lead visitors through a tranquil eucalypt forest, where dozens of contemporary sculptures emerge from the landscape — some monumental, others subtle, all thoughtfully placed to harmonize with the dappled light and birdsong. At the heart of the park lies the Qdos Gallery & an on-site café.

  • The Swing Bridge

The Swing Bridge is a charming pedestrian bridge spanning the Erskine River Estuary, offering scenic views and easy access to Lorne Beach and riverside trails. It’s a tranquil spot to pause and photograph.

Originally built in 1934, the Swing Bridge has become a beloved local landmark along the Great Ocean Road. It gently sways underfoot, adding a playful touch to your walk as you cross from the Top Bank toward the beach and foreshore. The bridge marks the meeting point of river and sea, where the calm waters of the Erskine River flow into Loutit Bay.

  • Lorne Pier

Lorne Pier is a scenic spot for strolling and ocean views, stretching into Loutit Bay with dramatic coastal backdrops and regular sightings of seals, stingrays and seabirds.

  • Split Point Lighthouse

🏛️ Split Point Lighthouse & Its Breathtaking Lookouts

Split Point Lighthouse in Aireys Inlet is a historic 1891 coastal beacon that still operates today, guiding ships along the famously treacherous Shipwreck Coast. Visitors can climb to the top for sweeping 360‑degree ocean and cliff views, often spotting dolphins or whales from the balcony on clear days (not always open).  The lighthouse is also well‑known for its appearance in the TV series Round the Twist.

Surrounding the lighthouse are several spectacular lookouts, each offering a different perspective of the coastline.
